The challenges of this historic restoration project -- which converted a former men's apparel factory on Savannah's River Walk into residential condominiums -- were many.  The large open work spaces were subdivided to provide comfortable living spaces without compromising the historic fabric of the site.  Furthermore, the spaces were made to comply with a host of code-related exiting, fire protection, circulation, and ventilation issues.  Additional bridges were constructed across Founders Walk to facilitate exiting from each of the four levels of the structure.  Our design for the conversion complied with the very stringent guidelines of the U.S. Department of Interiors for Landmark Historic Designation.
