The design objective of this 14-classroom, two story addition included not only provisions for the Sunday School needs of this rapidly growing church, but also accommodations for a future preschool program. The challenge of the project was to accomplish these goals while defining and enhancing a newly created courtyard. The courtyard functions as an outdoor congregational gathering space before and after Sunday morning services. Special attention was given to weaving the new structure into the existing fabric so as to complement the dominant sanctuary and campinile element.
