The objectives for the downtown Marietta branch were
two-fold. One was to create an exterior elevation that related
to the unique mercantile image of historical Marietta Square
while the other objective was to respect the urban nature of the
site while addressing the vehicular needs of the customer. These
objectives were accomplished on the ½ acre site by locating the
building close to the street and creating two entries to the bank
-- one addressing the main street and one addressing the parking
areas in the rear. The geometry of the circular lobby allowed for
the addition of natural light and acted as a hinge connecting the
office and banking areas of the branch. Contemporary materials
such as metal panels and aluminum sunscreens were blended with
traditional brick detailing on the exterior. Interior materials
included marble and granite flooring, a walnut-stained teller
line, and traditional trim profiles.
