The educational theme of "a school within a school," generated the form for this new prototypical Cobb County Middle School. The compactness of the plan not only reduces student walking distances, but also enables the facility to be constructed on a smaller plot of land. Identity of the focal point of the plan is strengthened by the unique curvilinear treatment of the central space of "crossing" of the circulation system.
