Renovations to the Alhambra Apartments on Peachtree Street was both
creative and necessary since the building represented one of the
few remaining buildings in the Buckhead area that define the
varied architectural character of the community. The original
building was a 3-story apartment building that was converted into
five stories and an expansion of floor area that doubled the
original building size. All this was done while keeping the character
and building codes in check. The original lower floor was
expanded into the basement to create a lower level townhouse. The same
was done to the upper level while the middle level was retained
and simply modified to the individual area requirements identified
by the owners. These modifications allowed the interior corridors
to be retained with an elevator and sprinkler system --
subtle evidence of modern technology.
